Holiday Season

Advent begins Sunday, November 30, 2025.

Advent is the time when the Church year begins again. It starts on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and continues through the day before Christmas. The name is derived from a Latin word, adventus, which means “coming.” The season is a time of preparation and expectation for the coming celebration of our Lord’s nativity, and for the final coming of Christ “in power and glory.”

Week of Advent I

Sunday, November 30, 2024 – First Sunday of Advent
8 a.m. Holy Eucharist – in the chapel
9:15 a.m. – Christian formation – various classrooms
10:30 a.m. – Holy Eucharist – in the church or streamed online. Childcare is available at this service.
12 noon – All-ages Advent Wreath Workshop and Lunch.

Wednesday, December 3
5:30 p.m. – Meditative Holy Eucharist – church
6:15 p.m. – Wednesday night supper – parish hall

Thursday, December 4
6:30 p.m. – Tar River Community Band Christmas Concert – Church

Saturday, December 6
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Christmas Homes Tour

Sunday, December 7, 2025 – Second Sunday of Advent
8 a.m. – Holy Eucharist – in the chapel
9:15 – 10:15 a.m. – Christian Formation – various classrooms
10:30 a.m. – Holy Eucharist with children’s strings and voices – in the church or streamed online. Childcare is available at this service.
5 p.m. – Lessons and Carols

6:15 p.m. – Wednesday night supper – parish hall
5:30 p.m. – Meditative Holy Eucharist – church

Angel Tree Gifts are collected during 10:30 service.
5 p.m. – EYC Christmas party – offsite
